Autopilot Drive Unit

Out of memory the standard autopilot installation had a rotating drive sitting on a cradle under the cockpit floor. If you have a steering system drawing in the ship’s papers it shows the arrangement.
Your description indicates your set up may be slightly different.

Is it possible to obtain the leather spreader covers like the originals?

I have replaced my spreader covers several time, by using a local artisan who supplies leather, amounts the mast and sews them on.

Lewmar traveller car repair

A call to the Lewmar representative in the USA found that Lewmar no longer supports this traveller design with spares or documentation. I was invited to buy and install a new traveller system. Rudder Problems

It is suggested that you inspect the upper end of the rudder stock casing closely, as there could also be another reason for the leakage – the lower bearing housing has come loose from the surrounding GRP. In this case the water enters between the steel housing and the GRP laminate around it, and there is a slot visible.

Refrigeration

I assume that you also have the 220v compressor, otherwise why would you keep the original plates.
Unless you are planning to put in a 24v compressor to drive the old plates, I did not think that was an option.
To be honest, I have only used the 220v compressor once since I had the 2 24v systems installed, but its a reassuring backup.

Possible cause electrolysis.
Lars – Yes, my answer mentions electrolysis as a possible reason, although I  referred to this as “some galvanically very active substances”.
Electrolysis is a rather broad term, and can be divided into electrolytic and galvanic corrosion. 
The electrolytic variant is caused by a leak in the electrical on board system, appears unlikely here because it would require cabling in the area, and occur …

Maintenance log

Swan 46 – Fresh water leak on Katface

Posted 08/10/2013: Some years ago I had a lot of trouble with my combination of water pressure system and manual pumps. I fitted a tap on the water pipe from the tanks to the manual pumps so that when not in use I could turn that system off. Swier – AWL Grip colours

Dear Sven, you refer to the inside of the hull, and this was originally painted with brown topcoat. Assuming that the white Awlgrip used here inside was the same as on the outside, the Awlgrip recipe corresponding to the original topside gelcoat is a mixture of equal parts Off White and Snow White.
