Foreign Affair has been in my ownership from new very late in 1994 after being exhibited at the Paris Boat show on its way down from Finland. I say my, but the boat is the proud possession of our family, especially the third generation, who are being trained to take me out when my son is too old. I am lucky enough to live within 7 minutes drive of the boat so am able to spend a lot of time and attention on it, keeping it to a very high standard.

I had been a cruising sailor before I managed to buy a Swan, and this was my 4th keelboat, and probably will be with the family for a long time to come. I was lucky enough to find a lot of good local friends, of many nationalities that were willing to race, and although I do not have a big racing programme, the Rolex Swan Worlds in Sardinia is not to be missed and I have participated in every event since 2006. Of course Monaco is a convenient location for Porto Cervo, and also the Nioulargue/Voiles de St Tropez, and a Porquerolles Week.

The boat is also used for cruising and we have covered most of the Western Mediterranean through to Croatia, and of course the islands, of which the west coast of Corsica is our clear favourite place in the world.

We have also crossed the Atlantic, and spend 3 full months cruising the Caribbean and sailed her back.

We race round the cans with 12 crew, offshore with 4-6 crew, planning some double handed ocean racing, plus family sailing and I love to sail the boat single handed.

Our sail number is MON46 and they have named a star after her “Ursa Major RA 11h 18m 16.38s D 65 Degrees 55 minutes and 31.24 seconds” now registered with the International Star Agency, Switzerland as “MON46”.

We are looking to spend many happy years racing and cruising.
