Removable Forestay

2 September 2021

I have a 46 MK II (n° 103) I understand that the removable forestay it used to rig a solent in rough wind and doesn’t have any structural impact on the mast holding. In other words, the boat can be sailed without at any time unless a solent needs to be rigged on. Am I right ? JOF

JOF you are correct, and I have raced is strong conditions without the inner forestay, and regularly use it in strong conditions with a solent. However, I find that without the inner forestay in place in wave conditions, the masts move significantly and I usually put in place if I am expecting choppy seas. Paul
